According to the study conducted by the researchers from Boston the men taking ED medications are predisposed to STDs.
“Doctors usually do not talk to older men about safe sexual intercourse, that is because of STD’s rate in this category of people is much lower than in younger patients” – researcher Anupam B. Jena said. “But what our investigation suggests is that just by virtue of asking for an Erectile Dysfunction drug, these men are identifying themselves as being at two or even three times higher risk of sexually transmitted disease”.
Researcher managed to examine insurances from a total 1,410,806 aged over 41 years of age. It was found that the men taking Levitra, Viagra and Cialis, the rate of STD’s was much higher compared to the group which didn’t take this group of drugs. The study suggests that those men engaging in behavior such as unprotected sex – are more likely to to take ED drugs.
The authors of the study agree that improved sex education is needed to older adults as well.
“We are typically unaccustomed to practice safe sex over the age of 50, because the risk of pregnancy is eliminated,” Jena said.
Another investigation conducted in Europe shows that nearly 15% of men over 50 years of age are diagnosed with HIV (AIDS).
Currently, the most of these elderly patients buy cheap Viagra online without a prescription and thus do not consult their doctor about the risk of sexually transmitted diseases.
